GILBERT — Copper Springs, a leading provider of high-quality behavioral health services in the Phoenix area, announced that its new behavioral health hospital, Copper Springs East, will open on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020. The new modern, state-of-the-art hospital is located 3755 South Rome St. in the Gilbert Medical Corridor, at the corner of Rome and Melrose Streets near Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Copper Springs East is a 60,000 square-foot 72-bed hospital, which includes inpatient and outpatient services for adults struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, addiction, and other mental health issues. It was built from the ground up with patient comfort in mind, featuring open, airy spaces with amenities such as snack stations, a workout room, spacious patient rooms, and outside courtyards.

The opening of this new behavioral health facility comes at a critical time. The CDC recently reported that more than 40 percent of adults reported feeling some level of depression, while 10 percent have contemplated suicide, during the last few weeks of June 2020. Currently, Arizona ranks 8th in the nation for the number of deaths by suicide. Further, according to the latest America’s Health Rankings report, drug deaths have increased by 53 percent across the state over the last 10 years.
“From our experience at Copper Springs in Avondale, we know that the majority of people who attempt suicide show signs, and that depression and addiction are treatable conditions,” said Jessica Black, Market CEO, Copper Springs. “We also know the isolation and fear caused by this pandemic are especially difficult for those with underlying mental health or substance use conditions who could be more substantially influenced by the emotional responses brought on by this stressful environment. Copper Springs East has hired more than 100 professionals, including nurses, physicians, behavioral health experts, and administration for the new facility, which is the organization’s first in the East Valley.
