FORT THOMAS — Ft. Thomas Unified School District (FTUSD) welcomed U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani for an official visit to meet with Superintendent Hawkins, school board members, and district leadership on Monday. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss community priorities and federal funding designated to address local education needs.
During the meeting, Congressman Ciscomani highlighted a $650,000 federal appropriation secured to build a new three-bedroom duplex for district staff. The housing initiative aims to support recruiting and retaining certified teachers and administrators in the rural district by providing affordable, high-quality housing.

The funding is included in the FY2027 appropriations bill, which has passed the U.S. House of Representatives. The measure now awaits final passage in the Senate before heading to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
“Securing reliable housing options is a critical step in attracting and retaining top-tier educators for our students,” said Superintendent Hawkins. “We deeply appreciate Congressman Ciscomani’s advocacy work and continued commitment to the Ft. Thomas community.”
