Staff Reports

GRAHAM COUNTY – The Community Cruise II will be held Friday, Sept. 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. in remembrance of those who perished during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Cruise II will begin at the parking lot between Sonic and Taco Bell off U.S. Highway 70 in Thatcher and will end at The Venue on Main Street in Downtown Safford, where vendor event will be held.

With Sept. 11 being designated a National Day of Service, organizers request all who are able to bring a non-perishable food item and/or toiletries that will be donated to the Mt. Graham Safe House, which provides crisis intervention, assessment, advocacy, and referral as needed. The Safe House was initially formed in 1995 to provide short-term housing to victims of domestic violence but soon after added various advocacy services.

The Cruise II is organized by County Cruise Coordinators, run by Katie Featherman and Julia Newlin. The pair previously organized their first cruise – a pro-Trump rally and cruse – on Saturday, August 22.
