Blaze blamed on electrical failure

CLIFTON – An electrical issue is being fingered as the cause of a devastating home fire in Clifton on Sunday night that was a total loss to the occupant. 

First responders were dispatched to the fire on Cuba Road at around 4:45 p.m., according to Clifton Police Chief Omar Negrete.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, but it was declared a total loss.  The Clifton Fire Department kept the blaze to a single structure.

According to a preliminary investigation, the fire is believed to have been caused by a blown circuit breaker in the electrical panel.

Clifton Police, the Greenlee Sheriff’s Office, and Greenlee County EMS assisted Clifton Fire at the scene.
