SAN CARLOS – Attention Gila Valley runners, there is a half-marathon that is under 100 miles away and won’t break the bank to register.

Do you think you have what it takes to complete a half-marathon around San Carlos Lake? Do you have $15?

If the answer is yes to those questions then the Circle San Carlos Lake at Sunrise 13.1-mile Half-Marathon held Saturday, Aug. 24, just might be the race for you. Last year’s fastest time overall was 1:42:09.

Come showcase your skills in a picturesque run with a finish line on top of Coolidge Dam.

Registration is just $15 per person, and a two-person relay team is allowed as well. Click here to download an entry form for a single racer and click here to download a relay team entry form. Forms must be filled out and emailed to chief_17cav@yahoo.com by Aug. 16 to be allowed to participate. Check or money orders are accepted with the entry form, or simply pay cash the day of the race.

Free lodging is available the Friday night before the race at the San Carlos Recreation’s Burdette Hall, allowing runners to rest and avoid an early morning drive on race day. Organizers will shuttle runners from Burdette Hall on race day to the starting line, with a planned race start time of 5:30 a.m. The start line will be roughly 13 miles east of Coolidge Dam and volunteers will be on hand to help guide those driving to the race.

For questions about the lodging, courtesy shuttle or other details, call Arthur Salter at (928) 475-2483 or email him at chief_17cav@yahoo.com
