SAFFORD – A dangerous situation was defused Sunday, May 31, after a young child found methamphetamine while shopping at Walmart at 755 S. 20th Ave.

According to a Safford Police report, the child was shopping with his father when he located a clear plastic glove with a folded dollar bill in it on the floor.

Upon inspection, the father noticed a white powder was inside the bill and he turned it in to Walmart staff, which alerted the authorities.

The powder tested positive for methamphetamine, and an officer secured it for destruction, along with the glove and bill. The officer and staff then reviewed store surveillance footage to see who had dropped the glove, however, the area was obstructed by store signs and shelves and it couldn’t be determined when or how the glove was left behind.
