Border Patrol arrests child sex offender

RIO RICO – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a previously convicted sex offender near Rio Rico, on Monday.

Tucson Sector agents apprehended 28-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez-Garcia early Monday morning after he illegally entered the United States. Records checks revealed Hernandez-Garcia, a citizen of Mexico, was convicted of sexual assault (victim 13-15 years old) in Passaic County, New Jersey, in 2011. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Hernandez-Garcia will face federal prosecution for immigration violations.

In the fiscal year 2019, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 195 illegal aliens with significant criminal histories. The Border Patrol is often the first line of defense against previously deported criminals attempting to reenter the United States.
