GRAHAM COUNTY – A bicyclist was struck and killed early Thursday morning while riding on U.S. Highway 70 near Haekel Road.

A deputy was dispatched to the scene at about 4:20 a.m. and was advised that a white truck had struck the cyclist.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was performed at the scene to attempt to revive the bicyclist’s pulse, but the victim never regained consciousness.

According to a release by Arizona Department of Public Safety Media Relations Specialist Bart Graves, the bicyclist was identified as Ian Mouser, 42, of Portland.

Graves advised Mouser was eastbound on U.S. Highway 70 east of Safford at about 4:20 a.m. when he was struck by a Dodge pickup driven by a 27-year-old man from Pima. Mouser was pronounced deceased at the scene after CPR efforts failed to revive him.

Graves advised that “It’s unlikely criminal charges will be filed, however, the investigation is ongoing.”
