PRESCOTT – Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) is the Arizona Wildlife Federation’s (AWF) award-winning program that helps women gain skills and confidence in the outdoors. BOW Workshops provide a safe and supportive environment where women feel comfortable learning, making life-long friends, and having fun in the outdoors. These workshops are led by AWF’s dedicated and professional BOW coordinators with help from numerous volunteers, including Arizona Game and Fish Department employees and a myriad of other experts in their fields. This year, Arizona BOW is turning 30 years old!
Registration is open for the September Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Workshop, which will be held Sept. 6 – 8 in Prescott, Arizona. The workshop is held at Friendly Pines Camp in Prescott, nestled high in the Bradshaw Mountain Range at 6,300 feet of elevation. Participants stay in rustic cabins and enjoy the many amenities of this lovely camp, which was established in 1943.
At a BOW weekend, there are four class sessions with 10 or more classes to choose from for each session. Class options include archery, Arizona plant identification, rappelling, Dutch oven cooking, snakes and reptiles of Arizona, gun safety and shooting, and so much more! There’s plenty to enjoy at a BOW Weekend — from expanding your knowledge of outdoors skills to sharing stories around the campfire to forging a new connection with nature.
The cost for the workshop is $435. This fee covers all classes, use of equipment, rooming in cabins, all meals, and additional speakers and activities. Don’t wait — our spots are filling up fast!
