THATCHER – The Arizona Supreme Court will visit Eastern Arizona College (EAC) on Thursday, Nov. 21, to hear oral arguments in two cases. The Hon. Michael D. Peterson is bringing this ticketed event to Graham County and it will be hosted in the EAC Lee Little Theater and is free and open to the public.
Oral arguments on the first case will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the second case scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m. Court officials recommend that attendees arrive by 8:30 a.m. to complete a security screening before entering the theater.
In addition to EAC students, local high school teachers and students have been invited to attend, and community members are encouraged to join. However, seating may be limited.
“We are honored to host the Arizona Supreme Court on our campus,” said EAC President Todd Haynie. “This event offers a unique educational opportunity for our students and community members to witness our judicial system in action and engage directly with the justices.”
The court’s visit reflects its commitment to making the judicial process accessible to communities across Arizona. “This visit is consistent with the court’s mission to go into the community,” said Heather Murphy, the court’s director of communications. “Outreach is very important to the justices.”
Attendees are reminded of several security measures in place: backpacks and large bags are not permitted, and all cell phones must be turned off while the court is in session. Audience members are also encouraged to remain seated for the duration of the event.
