Another day, another new group of positive COVID-19 cases for Graham and Greenlee counties

Graham adds nine and Greenlee increases by five

GRAHAM AND GREENLEE COUNTIES – The number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to increase in Graham and Greenlee counties yet they remain the lowest in the state.

The Graham County Department of Health and Human Services announced nine new positive COVID-19 tests Friday, with seven coming from Safford, one from Thatcher, and one from Pima. As of Saturday, five patients were hospitalized at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center due to COVID-19.

To date, the county has administered tests to 2,401 people with a total of 362 positives. The county lists 287 currently active cases, with 70 recovered cases, and five deaths. Graham County has about 39,000 residents.  

Greenlee County

The Greenlee County Health Department announced five new positive COVID-19 tests Friday. The county also recently announced a new fatality from the virus, bringing its total to two deaths.

To date, Greenlee has administered tests to 776 people, with 626 being negative, 45 positives, and 105 results pending. The county lists 26 active cases, 17 recovered cases, and the two deaths. Greenlee County has about 10,000 residents.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe Department of Health & Human Services reported 28 new positive tests on Friday.

To date, the Tribe has administered tests to 3,557 people with 2,738 negative, 364 positives, and 455 results pending.

The Tribe lists 150 currently active cases, with 212 recovered cases, and two deaths.

The area breakdown on the reservation includes Gilson Wash – 48 positive, 29 recovered, 18 active, one death; Peridot – 133 positive, 85 recovered, 15 active, one death; 7-Mile – 66  positive, 51 recovered, 15 active; Bylas – 88 positive, 28 recovered, 60 active; other areas – 29 positive, 19 recovered, 10 active.   

 Statewide

For the state, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported 3,748 new cases Friday to bring the total to 160,041 for the state, as well as 144 new deaths to bring the total fatalities due to COVID-19 to 3,286 in Arizona. The state has about 7.3 million residents.  

Reported positive cases in the various counties include Maricopa County with 107,291, Pima County – 14,800, Yuma County – 10,138, Pinal County – 7,378, Navajo County – 5,049, Apache County – 2,908, Coconino County – 2,849, Mohave County – 2,681, Santa Cruz County – 2,495, Yavapai County – 1,539, Cochise County – 1,363, Gila County – 686, La Paz County – 462, Graham County – 362, Greenlee County – 40.
