SAFFORD – The Gila Valley Arts Council is proud to present Folk Legacy Trio on Nov. 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the David M. Player Center for the Arts. Gila Valley Arts Council offers concerts at family-friendly prices, with children and students paying only $5, even in Premier seats that adults pay $20 for. The Folk Legacy Trio are:
George Grove, who spent 41 years as a member of the legendary Kingston Trio, known worldwide for his exceptional banjo playing and musicianship.
Rick Dougherty brought his clear tenor voice to The Limeliters for 14 years (replacing Glenn Yarbrough) and later spent 12 years with The Kingston Trio.
Jerry Siggins served as lead singer for 27 years with the famous 1950s rock-and-roll/doo-wop group The Diamonds (known for hits like “Little Darlin'” and “The Stroll”). He also spent time as a member of Disneyland’s Dapper Dan.
If you are a fan of folk music, you won’t want to miss this performance.

The Folk Legacy Trio has been hailed as “the living library” of music of the great folk era, delivering songs from the ’50s-’70s. The group is widely recognized for their signature vocal harmonies and a popular PBS television special. With their gorgeous harmonies, they perform songs from The Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul & Mary, The New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, and many others. Blending history and humor, they have received accolades from venues across the country as “BEST SHOW EVER.”
“In these times of limited folk music venues, it is difficult to find seasoned performers who rise to the professional level that marked the great performances we all enjoyed during the heyday of the sixties folk music era. George Grove, Rick Dougherty, and Jerry Siggins, veteran folk singers with thousands of stage-hours among them, bring us the folk music classics we remember, and effortlessly transport us to a bygone era.”
Art Podell – Greenwich Village expat (Art and Paul), Original member of The New Christy Minstrels, songwriter, radio host and columnist
“There are few musicians today that have been charged with saving a genre of music. There are fewer yet that have the ability to do so. George, Rick and Jerry are accomplished in every facet of vocal performance and entertainment. With the recent resurgence of ‘new folk’ it is only fitting that the Folk Legacy Trio be formed as the foundation to a new generation of folk lovers.”
Bob Poynton – The Lettermen
In addition to their evening performance, Folk Legacy Trio will give a free mini concert at the Safford Public Library on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m., as well as two vocal workshops with local school choirs.
On Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., they will present a special school concert at David M. Player Center for the Performing Arts for approximately 900 schoolchildren, as part of GVAC’s School Residency programming. Gila Valley Arts Council is very grateful to all its supporting Members who purchase season tickets to our evening shows every year, which help finance our School Residency Program. To become a member, contact President Tom Green at (928) 322-4321.
