THATCHER — Electric vehicle drivers traveling through Graham County have a new high-speed option following the official opening of Tesla’s newest Supercharger station in Thatcher.

Jon Johnson Photo/Gila Herald: Most Teslas can charge up to 200 miles in about 15 minutes at the station, depending on the charge level when you arrive.

According to a Tesla Charging announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the new facility went live on Oct. 9. Located at 2281 W. Thatcher Blvd. on the far east side of the Food City parking lot, the site bridges a critical infrastructure gap along the U.S. Highway 70 corridor. The Thatcher location is the only Supercharger station in Graham County, with the next closest being in Willcox along the I-10 corridor. The Thatcher location is currently the only Supercharger station along the Old West Highway corridor of Highway 70 and Highway 60; however, a station in Globe has been planned for several years. With the new construction, the entire shopping center parking lot has been resurfaced.

Station Specifications

The Thatcher Supercharger site features eight stalls equipped with North American Charging Standard (NACS) plugs. Engineered for high-power output, the stalls can deliver rapid charging speeds up to 500 kW (using high-voltage architecture to maximize efficiency for compatible long-range and heavy-duty EVs).

The layout includes one pull-through stall, a welcome design choice frequently requested by drivers traveling with trailers or towing recreational equipment.

Pricing and Access

According to its website, Tesla owns and operates more than 80,000 Superchargers worldwide. The station is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Standard Tesla Supercharger idle fees and per-kilowatt-hour pricing apply, varying by time of day and vehicle compatibility. Tesla vehicles and other NACS-enabled EVs configured for the network, or those with their own adapters, can access the location.

Drivers using the new charging bank can access nearby amenities, including Big Five, Taco Bell, and Food City, along Thatcher Boulevard while charging.
