SAFFORD – The Gila Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Safford, Arizona, is spreading sweetness this Valentine’s season with their popular annual fundraiser: “Strawberries for Those You Love.”
This delightful event features hand-dipped chocolate strawberries that are not only a perfect romantic treat but also support a meaningful cause—funding scholarships and student awards for local high school students.
The assortment includes a tempting variety of toppings: dark chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate with pecans, milk chocolate with pecans, white chocolate with milk chocolate swizzles, and milk chocolate with white chocolate swizzles. Each half-dozen plate ($10) features one of each variety, while a full dozen ($20) includes two of each—offering a beautiful mix that’s far more affordable than similar online vendors charging $50 or more for a dozen.
Pickup is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Graham High School Culinary Arts Department, located at 300 W. Discovery Park Blvd in Safford (just east of the Safford Cemetery—look for the signs!).
Orders are being accepted now through Wednesday, Feb. 4. To secure your strawberries before supplies run out due to high demand, place your order early in one of two easy ways:
- Call or text Brenda at 928-322-1338 and provide your name, phone number, and the number of full dozen and/or half-dozen plates desired.
- Contact your favorite local DAR member with your order details.
Payment (cash or check only) is collected at pickup. No advance payment is required.
All proceeds directly benefit the chapter’s educational initiatives, including scholarships for high school students dual-enrolled at Eastern Arizona College (EAC) and awards for outstanding seniors recognized through the DAR Good Citizen program. These efforts help empower the next generation with opportunities tied to patriotism, education, and community service—core values of the DAR.
The Gila Valley Chapter, based in Safford at the base of majestic Mount Graham, has a proud history of supporting historic preservation, education, and patriotism in southeastern Arizona since its organization in 2014.
Don’t miss this sweet way to show your love this Valentine’s Day while making a positive impact on local students. Order today and treat someone special to these irresistible, locally crafted delights! For more information, reach out to Brenda or any Gila Valley DAR member.
