According to a Graham County Sheriff’s Office report, first responders were dispatched at about 11:19 a.m. regarding the fire. Upon arrival, deputies saw a CKC Construction & Materials water truck on scene with CKC employees watering down a primary residence next to the fifth wheel before the arrival of firefighters. CKC’s office is just down the road from the fire, and employees saw the blaze and brought over their water truck to assist.

The Safford Fire Department then arrived and extinguished the fire. The fifth wheel and a Dodge Magnum car were burned to a total loss, but the primary residence only appeared to suffer smoke damage in the eaves.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire; however, a man soon arrived on the scene and said he had been at work when he was notified of the situation. The man said he was in the process of purchasing the fifth wheel and that nobody currently lived in the double-wide trailer main home.

The man advised that the only appliance he had left running in the fifth wheel was his air conditioning unit. According to the deputy’s report, the fire is believed to have been started by an electrical fence that was near the porch area. However, no definitive cause of the fire was listed.
