SAFFORD – Various fundraising efforts are underway to assist a Safford family who lost everything except the pajamas they were wearing after an early morning fire on Saturday.
The family of five was asleep when the fire began and had to immediately exit the residence.
The fire initially began outside of the manufactured home, but once it was ignited it quickly burned. Firefighters were dispatched at about 6:30 a.m. To the residence in the 7000 block of S. Tumbleweed Drive, to find the home engulfed. The cause of the fire is under investigation and may have been caused by an electrical issue.
Along with their belongings, the family lost their pet dogs as well as two Chevy Silverado pickup trucks and a 2020 Polaris Razor UTV. The home and its belongings were deemed a total loss.
Clothing donations are being accepted by family members at 4420 S. 10th Ave. in Safford or 3413 S. U.S. Highway 191. Sizes needed include men’s shoe size 8-1/2, women’s shoe size 7; clothes XL and 36” pants for the father and small and size 5 pants for the mother; children: boy’s 14, girl’s 10/12, girl’s toddler 5T. Another member of the community has also offered to accept clothing donations at 1021 W. Yuma Circle in Safford.
