In what has to be an April Fools prank, the New York Post, April 1, 2021, mentioned CNN News recently reported — apparently in a serious manner — the sex of a newborn baby could not be determined at birth.
Uncertain if the news commentators were joking, have become totally woke, or just naturally stupid. Maybe all three.
This nonsensical story appeared soon after CNN announced South Dakota had banned transgendered individuals from participating in women’s sports. Ordinarily, not a particularly astonishing declaration since men’s and women’s athletic events have been separate – sometimes coed – forever.
Apparently to CNN’s Devan Cole, the thought of boys and girls having different locker rooms because of obviously different physical and mental characteristics, has him completely puzzled since he’s of the opinion “It’s not possible to know a person’s gender identity at birth, and there are no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth.”
Perhaps, in addition to being scholastically challenged, Mr. Cole must also be blind. Then again, it’s CNN, so anything can pass for news, particularly if the story leans left or mocks conservative values.
However, what I find astonishing is how a person of even below average intelligence can go through life attending school, social events, maybe have brothers and sisters, and does the things most folks ordinarily do and not be capable of distinguishing the differences between Sam and Sally?
It’s not as difficult as Devan seems to believe. There’re only two genders – male and female. Science has established this fact since Adam dated Eve. At least Devan has a 50% chance of guessing which is which.
If he’s still confused, maybe he could simply look in a biology book or ask a nurse or seek some kind of counseling.
Perhaps he honestly can’t distinguish an exclamation point ! from a parenthesis sign ().
If that’s the case, CNN’s healthcare provider probably offers company-paid optometry services. It’s amazing what a good pair of glasses can do for the visually impaired.
Following much ridicule and mocking on social media, CNN slightly reworded the article. Still, it remains equally ridiculous — “It’s not possible to know a person’s gender identity at birth, and for some people, the sex listed on their original birth certificate is a misleading way of describing the body they have.”
Other than the usual male and female categories, get ready for the new gender-friendly birth certificate, listing multiple selections to choose from, including “All the above,” “Some of the above” and “None of the above.” Obviously, anyone can be a boy or girl, but to CNN it takes someone extra special to be born anything else.
