SAFFORD – A 12-year-old boy who was already on juvenile probation is facing additional charges after allegedly stealing his grandmother’s truck the evening of Nov. 21.

An officer was dispatched to the scene on Main Street at about 10:51 p.m.

According to a Safford Police report, the juvenile’s mother said she had been out with a friend and when she came home she noticed her mother’s 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck was missing, along with her son who is on probation and wearing an ankle monitor.

An officer later located the juvenile driving the stolen truck on Relation Street. The suspect was then arrested for unlawful means of transportation and driving without a license. However, due to his positive COVID-19 status, juvenile probation would not accept him and he was instead released back into the custody of his mother.
