SAFFORD — The Safford City-Graham County Library invites community members of all ages to participate in its 2025 Summer Reading Program, which will begin Monday, June 2.

With the year’s theme, “Color Our World”, the program celebrates creativity in all forms. It offers a variety of free activities designed to keep the community reading, learning, and connecting all summer long.

“The Summer Reading Program is a great way to keep the whole family reading. It helps keep language and reading skills sharp while kids are out of school,” says Library Director Victoria Silva.

The first week will include an all-ages art night, Transforming Junk into Treasure, on Tuesday, June 3, at 5 p.m. Artist Shari Keith will help participants create their own unique piece of art. The Library’s annual free community pool party will be on Thursday, June 5, at the Safford Pool from 6 to 8 p.m.

This summer will feature several events, ranging from art classes to storytimes. Two summer favorites, indoor minigolf and an escape room, will reappear in July. Other highlights include a Duckoration Art Show, where residents over age 8 are encouraged to pick up a rubber duck at the library to decorate and return for display while supplies last.

Throughout the summer, participants can track reading minutes using the Beanstack app, earning pool passes, state park passes, and other goodies, as well as tickets for grand prize drawings.

“This summer will be bright and colorful and offer opportunities for the entire community to celebrate art and reading. Some of my fondest childhood memories are tied to summer reading programs, and I hope to bring that same sense of excitement with Color Our World”, says Assistant Library Director Lesley Talley.
