The city of Safford has announced the closure of a section of its multi-use path below the Safford Cemetery for the next 8 to 10 weeks.

SAFFORD – Walkers and bikers traversing the western section of Safford’s multi-use path below the cemetery Thursday morning received an abrupt end. Beginning Sept. 4, a section of the multi-use Path (adjacent to 8th Avenue) near the Safford Cemetery will be closed to the north and south. This closure is expected to last 8–10 weeks.

The closure is due to the construction of the city’s sewer extension project in the area, which will be part of the city’s new Mayor Jason Kouts Park.
