PIMA – The Pima Public Library was a recipient of the Children’s Book Project grant award from The Pilcrow Foundation

The Pilcrow Foundation was founded in 2013 to continue the work of The Libri Foundation. Their mission is to provide new, quality, hardcover children’s books to rural public libraries across the United States.

Our library was selected to be sponsored through a generous donation of 65 books from Drs. Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen, of California.

We also received books through The Pilcrow Foundation’s donor-sponsored programs. The first program provided an additional 20 math and science books, donated by a generous donation from Mr. Hal Berenson and Mrs. Laura Ackerman of Colorado. The second program provided a further 17 books related to health and wellness by a generous donation from Drs. Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen, of California.

Our Pima Public Library Board members, Melissa Batty, Katie Cluff, Becky Preston, Sherrill Teeter, and Emily Hundley, unanimously voted to contribute matching funds of $400 toward the acquisition of these new books. All in all, we acquired 103 books with a retail value of $1,905.42!

“I’m excited for these new books to join our library’s collection, and grateful for those who helped make it happen,” said Pima Public Library Director Rane Jones.
