GREENLEE COUNTY – In 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) designated April as National County Government Month. This annual observance provides counties with the opportunity to recognize their important role not only within the federal framework but, more importantly, their ongoing dedication to serving their communities in impactful ways.

The nation’s 3,069 counties serve more than 330 million Americans by delivering essential services that help create safe, healthy, and thriving communities. On April 7, 2026, the Greenlee County Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed April 2026 as National County Government Month, joining counties across the country in recognizing these vital contributions. This year’s recognition is especially meaningful as the nation celebrates 250 years of independence, highlighting the long-standing part counties have played in supporting communities throughout American history.

From maintaining infrastructure and ensuring public safety to supporting public health and community development, county governments are integral to nearly every aspect of daily life. Greenlee County is proud to participate in this nationwide initiative and encourages residents to learn more about the services and programs their county provides.

The Greenlee County Board of Supervisors extends its sincere gratitude to the residents of Greenlee County for their continued support and partnership. The County looks forward to many more years of serving and protecting the community in the best interest of all who call it home.
