TUCSON – A total of 19 schools have indicated participation in the upcoming Thomas Meixner Lancer Invitational on Saturday, March 21.

Joining host Division III Tucson Salpointe Catholic from Division I are Tucson Magnet and Tucson Sunnyside; Division II Casa Grande Vista Grande, Nogales, Tucson Desert View, Tucson Flowing Wells, and Vail Cienega; Division III Rio Rico, Sahuarita Walden Grove, and Vail Mica Mountain; Division IV Safford, Tucson Tanque Verde, and Yuma Catholic; and Division V Morenci, Saint David, Tombstone, Tucson Santa Rita, and Tucson’s The Gregory School.

Division I Tucson Rincon/University was 22nd (3) and Bisbee 23rd (2). Two Division V schools, San Simon and Tucson’s The Gregory School, did not score.

Canyon Del Oro was third with 65 points, Division II Catalina Foothills fourth (61), Nogales and Thatcher tied for fifth (50), Ironwood Ridge seventh (49), Division IV Tucson Sabino eighth, Flowing Wells ninth (32.5), and Division III Sahuarita 10th (25.5).

Division V Saint Johns was 11th (24.5), Division IV Pusch Ridge Christian 12th (21), Division IV Tucson Catalina, Tucson Tanque Verde, and Tucson Magnet tied for 14th (11), Division IV Vail Empire 17th (8), Morenci 18th (6), and Santa Rita and Saint David tied for 19th (5).

Coolidge was 21st (4.5) and Division II Casa Grande 22nd (1). Division V Tucson Desert Christian did not score.

Division I Gilbert Williams Field was first with 112.5 points, Division II Gilbert Campo Verde second (107), and Division I Chandler third (85).

Morenci netted 13 points to tie for 15th with Division I Gilbert Perry.

Division II Buckeye Union was fourth (52), Division I Laveen Cesar Chavez fifth (50), Division III Gilbert Mesquite sixth (41), Division II Phoenix North Canyon seventh (28), Division IV Avondale La Joya Community eighth (27), Division III Kingman Lee Williams ninth (19.5), and Division III Tempe Macos de Niza and Division I Mesa tied for 10th (19).

Division II Laveen Betty H. Fairfax was 12th (16), Division I Phoenix Maryvale 13th (15), Division II Scottsdale Chaparral 14th (14.5), Division V Morenci and Division I Gilbert Perry tied for 15th (13), Division III Phoenix Barry Goldwater and Division V Phoenix Valley Lutheran tied for 17th (12), and Gilbert American Leadership – Gilbert North and Avondale West Point tied for 19th (10).

Division I Phoenix South Mountain was 21st (8), Division V Glendale Trivium Prep and Division V Chandler Prep tied for 22nd (5). Division V Phoenix Arizona Lutheran 24th (4.5), Division II North Phoenix 25th (2), and Avondale Saint John Paul II Catholic 26th (1).

Individual running event champions were Chandler junior Robert Barker in the 100 (11.07a SB), Williams Field junior Kelvin Hunter Jr. in the 200 (22.39a PR), North Canyon senior Dominic Dampier in the 400 (49.96a), Maryvale senior Guillermo Corona in the 800 (1:58.56.01a PR), Williams Field senior Nathaniel Kautz in the 1600 (4:37.21a PR), Valley Lutheran senior Benjamin Benally in the 3200 (10:01.14a SB), Cesar Chavez sophomore Layne Wooden in the 110 hurdles (15.10a SB), and Chandler senior Kelon Chatman in the 300 hurdles (41. 60a PR).

The field event champions were Williams Field senior Malachi Joyner in the shot put (54-9.5 SB), Campo Verde senior Ryker Montgomery in the discus (150-7), Campo Verde senior Drew Pollard in the javelin (170-8), Chandler senior Hamisi Juma in the high jump (6-2 SB); ALA – Gilbert North junior Weston Powell in the pole vault (14-6), Campo Verde senior Bringham Burnham in the long jump (22-7), and Buckeye Union sophomore Sema’J Rodgers in the triple jump (43-0).

Two different schools placed first in the relays, Chandler in the 4×100 (42.31a) of 18 finishing with sophomore Isaiah McGowen, junior Robert Barker, junior Jedyn Weens, and junior Jackson Colter as well as the 4×400 (3:25.20a) of 18 with senior Josiah Rue, Barker, Juma, and senior David Knierim; and Campo Verde in the 4×800 (8:27.86a) of 15 with seniors Jacob Nusca, Emmitt Jones, Mitchell Hall, and Luke Ahles.
