SAFFORD — The City of Safford is proud to announce that Vice Mayor Arnold Lopez has been appointed as the new Chair of the Executive Board for the Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO).

This is a significant milestone for Vice Mayor Lopez and the City of Safford as we continue to strengthen our voice and impact across Southeastern Arizona.

About SEAGO

Established in 1972, SEAGO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a Council of Governments (COG) that brings together municipalities, counties, tribal nations, and regional stakeholders to solve shared challenges. SEAGO serves the four counties of Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz, including 19 local government entities and private sector representatives.

Originally a planning agency, SEAGO has grown to coordinate and implement impactful programs in community & economic development, transportation and public transit, housing, social and aging services, and environmental planning.

As Chair, Vice Mayor Lopez will help guide the organization’s mission to foster regional collaboration, influence policy, and secure resources that benefit all member communities.

This appointment reflects the City of Safford’s continued leadership and dedication to building partnerships that advance our entire region.
