Grand Opening of Greenlee County Fairgrounds Ballfield Marks New Era for Youth Sports

GREENLEE COUNTY – On Friday, March 6, at 4:30 p.m., the community gathered at the Greenlee County Fairgrounds to celebrate the grand opening of the newly completed ballfield. The event was held in coordination with the opening ceremonies for Duncan Little League Baseball and marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for youth sports in the area.

Community members, families, and young athletes filled the stands and sidelines to witness the unveiling of the field and to show their support. The opening of the Greenlee County Fairgrounds ballfield represents more than just a place to play baseball. It stands as a community investment in the next generation — a place where young athletes can learn teamwork, build character, and create lasting memories for years to come.

The field has been fully prepared for play, including newly installed lighting that allows for extended evening games and community events. Three games were played during the opening day celebration, showcasing the enthusiasm and talent of the young athletes who will call the field home.

Greenlee County would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the many partners and individuals who helped make this project and event possible. Special thanks go to Nationwide Fiberoptic and Power, Peterson Landscaping, and Duncan Little League for their valuable contributions and support.

An additional thanks to the many departments and teams whose guidance, planning, and hard work made this project possible. Appreciation is extended to county leadership, the Fairgrounds team, and the Public Works, Roads, and Facilities departments, along with the County Engineer’s office, for the many hours of coordination, planning, and dedication that went into building this field and supporting the event.
