GRAHAM COUNTY – Graham County and local community leaders will welcome Arizona’s America250 Traveling Museum to Downtown Safford as part of the statewide celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States of America.
The traveling exhibit, titled “Road to 250,” is touring communities across Arizona to help residents reflect on the nation’s history and engage with the story of American democracy.
The museum will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of Safford City Hall, located at 717 W. Main Street, Safford, Arizona 85546.
Local officials will be on hand to welcome the museum and recognize the significance of the upcoming national milestone. Layton House Bed & Breakfast and Freedom Floor Covering Plus of joined forces to create a community art installation by having residents paint red, white, and blue tiles.
“Road to 250 is about making this milestone accessible to every Arizonan,” said Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, chair of the Arizona America250 Commission.
“By traveling to communities across the state, this museum invites people to reflect on our shared history, celebrate Arizona’s role in America’s story, and consider how each of us contributes to the next chapter of our democracy.”
The mobile exhibit highlights key moments in American and Arizona history while encouraging visitors to think about the future of civic participation and community leadership.
In addition to its stop in Safford, the America250 Traveling Museum will be visiting communities across Eastern Arizona, including Willcox on Sunday the 15th, Clifton on Wednesday the 18th, and Thatcher on Friday the 20th, giving additional residents across the region an opportunity to experience the exhibit.
Community members are invited to stop by throughout the day to explore the exhibit, learn more about the upcoming America250 commemoration, and celebrate the shared story of the United States.
