SAFFORD – The Gila Watershed Partnership invites all members of the public to attend our next First Friday Volunteer Event and Social, March 6. The activity is a tour of our Discovery Park campus home, where participants can look in on the day-to-day activities of a full-time native plants greenhouse, the pollinator garden, and the seed orchard. To assist us with grant deliverables, attendees will also participate in seed cleaning at the Ranch House. Meet at the Gila Native Plants Nursery at the Discovery Park Campus of EAC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you’re already a GWP volunteer, you’re interested in volunteering, or you just want to see what’s going on at the Gila Watershed Partnership, RSVP to info@gwpaz.org. Lunch will be provided, so please include any dietary restrictions.

First Friday Volunteer Socials started in 2021 as a way to introduce new volunteers to our organization and to give our regular volunteers a chance to meet, chat, and complete a simple but worthwhile task. On the first Friday of every month, volunteers and anyone interested in the organization’s work at the Gila Native Plant Nursery will be invited to an event to get to know each other and the GWP staff. Activities might include cleaning seeds to prepare them for planting, watching presentations about native plants and our watershed, going on field trips to the areas we are restoring and to other places in the Gila Valley to plant native plants, washing pots, and weeding in the pollinator garden.
