THATCHER – The Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters (7-4 overall) return home to Guitteau Gymnasium on Monday, Dec. 15, for a highly anticipated non-conference rematch against the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST.
Just ten days ago, on Dec. 5 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the then-No. 8-ranked Golden Eagles handed the Gila Monsters a 74-64 defeat in the Wright Physical Therapy Shootout. CSI dominated the rebounding battle that night, pulling away in the second half to remain perfect on the season. The loss dropped EAC to 6-4 at the time.
The Gila Monsters bounced back strongly the following day, exploding for a season-high 103 points in a convincing 103-77 road victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College. The offensive outburst showcased EAC’s firepower, as they shot over 55% from the field and overwhelmed a struggling CNCC squad.
Now riding the momentum from that dominant win, Eastern Arizona will look to flip the script on its home court against an undefeated CSI team that has proven challenging to beat. The Golden Eagles’ physicality and rebounding prowess will test the Gila Monsters once more, but EAC’s recent scoring surge suggests they have the tools for payback.
Fans are encouraged to pack the gym for what promises to be an intense JUCO showdown. The Gila Monsters aim to even the season series and build confidence heading into the heart of their schedule. Those who can’t be there in person can watch the game on EAC’s YouTube Channel here.
