SUPERIOR – The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures on U.S. Highway 60 for a bridge replacement project:
- U.S. Highway 60 between Superior and Miami (mileposts 227-243) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16; Wednesday, Dec. 17; and Thursday, Dec. 18.
Detour: Eastbound U.S. Highway 60 drivers use southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound SR 77. Westbound U.S. Highway 60 drivers use southbound SR 77 through Winkelman to northbound SR 177. Given the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to plan travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m. The detour is expected to add an hour to travel time between Superior and Miami.
Upcoming full closures:
- U.S. Highway 60 between Superior and Miami is tentatively scheduled to be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23. Detour in place during closures.
Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors. Lane restrictions, speed reductions, and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Oversized loads may be accommodated with advance notice.
Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down, and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.

Plan for daytime lane restrictions on U.S. Highway 70 east of Peridot, Dec. 15-16
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers traveling on U.S. Highway 70, east of Peridot, to plan for the following lane restrictions as work continues on a passing lane project:
- Alternating east- and westbound restrictions on U.S. Highway 70 between mileposts 274 and 276 daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, and Tuesday, Dec. 16.
- Flaggers and a pilot car will direct drivers through the work zone.
- The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.
Motorists should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down, and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
