SAFFORD – On Thursday, Aug. 21, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Safford Police Department responded to a report of a student on the Safford High School campus allegedly in possession of a weapon.
Safford High School’s administrative staff received the report and immediately notified the School Resource Officer. Safford Police officers and school staff quickly located the student and contained the situation.
Following an investigation, it was determined that no weapon was ever present on campus and no credible threats existed. The matter remains under review by both school officials and the Safford Police Department.
Thanks to the swift response and coordination between school staff and law enforcement, the incident was resolved quickly and safely. Daily school operations were not disrupted, and there was no risk to students, staff, or the community.
The Safford Police Department takes all reports of potential threats seriously and will continue working closely with school officials to ensure the safety of students and staff.
