THATCHER —With classes beginning Aug. 18, Eastern Arizona College (EAC) is making it easier than ever for students to start their college journey with a simple, four-step enrollment process.

Erik Lehmann, director of enrollment management at EAC, is encouraging prospective students to begin the process now to ensure a smooth start to the fall semester.

Step 1: Apply for admission
Students can apply for admission online by clicking the “Apply” button on the EAC website and completing a short form. After the application is submitted, it takes a couple of days to process. Most students will then submit an official transcript to finalize admission and officially become an EAC student. However, not all classes require transcripts, especially for non-degree-seeking or community education students.

Step 2: Prepare payment methods
Lehmann emphasizes that there are numerous ways to pay for college at EAC. “We want all students to apply for FAFSA—the Free Application for Federal Student Aid,” Lehmann said. The FAFSA determines eligibility for federal aid such as the Pell Grant and work-study programs. Students are also encouraged to apply for scholarships through EAC’s general scholarship application, which allows access to multiple scholarship opportunities.

Special note for senior students: Arizona residents age 55 and older automatically qualify for an in-state tuition waiver. This benefit makes higher education more accessible for lifelong learners. For more information, call 928-428-8270.

Step 3: Enroll in classes
Registration for classes begins in late March for the fall semester and mid-October for the spring semester. Students are urged to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor before registering. “Meeting with an advisor helps students understand which classes are required for their major and ensures they get the courses they need,” Lehmann said.

Students who do not wish to meet with an advisor—or who already know what they need—can access the class schedule online at www.eac.eduto find section numbers and register directly.

Step 4: Settle your account and get ready to begin
When the semester starts, students should be prepared to finalize any remaining tuition or housing payments. “You’re coming here to be a Gila Monster, not just to attend a community college and go home,” Lehmann said, reinforcing the spirit and community EAC offers.
