THATCHER – A single-wide mobile home on West Westridge Drive caught fire early Sunday morning, prompting a swift response from local emergency services. The resident escaped unharmed, and firefighters successfully prevented the blaze from causing a total loss to the structure.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:32 a.m. when the homeowner called authorities after waking up to difficulty breathing and discovering his residence filled with smoke. The homeowner told responding officers that as he exited the home, he observed flames originating from the kitchen area.

Upon arrival, police noted heavy smoke emanating from the trailer, with soot staining the exterior and signs that the fire had spread to the roof. The sole occupant confirmed no pets or other individuals were inside.

Officers from the Pima Police Department secured a perimeter around the scene to allow safe access for firefighters. The Thatcher Fire Department arrived shortly after and extinguished the flames before the home was destroyed.

Paramedics from Lifeline Ambulance evaluated the homeowner at the scene for potential smoke inhalation. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is currently listed as unknown. The homeowner reported that he did not recall leaving any appliances, candles, or other ignition sources on before going to sleep.
