Duncan, Fort Thomas nearly sweep 1A East top region awards

PHOENIX – Congratulations are in order for the Duncan Wildkats and Fort Thomas Apaches, who nearly swept this year’s major region awards. 

Duncan head coach Eldon Merrell was chosen as the 1A East Region Coach of the Year, and he is joined by Wildkat Sofia Harris as the Defensive Player of the Year. 

For The Fort, Jamie Johnson was named 1A East Region Player of the Year, and Leilynn Wesley was co-Offensive Player of the Year. 

Region Coach of the Year: Eldon Merrell – Duncan

Defensive Player of the Year: Sofia Harris – Duncan

Offensive Player of the Year: Leilynn Wesley – Fort Thomas and Kira Myers – Cicero Prep
