SAFFORD — On Monday, Mount Graham Regional Medical Center (MGRMC) announced that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bart Carter will be the interim CEO and Administrator in Charge while CEO Roland Knox is “on injured reserve” due to a health issue.

Knox, a former baseball player, described his absence as being “out of the lineup” for the time being and said he expects to return to his position when his health returns.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bart Carter has been with MGRMC for 27 years and is its District Board President.

A hospital news release stated its trust in Carter’s stewardship.

“With the help and teamwork of the entire administration and leadership team, Dr. Carter will ensure that MGRMC stays on track with our goals, projects, and mission of serving our community,” the release stated.

The hospital also wished Knox well.

“We wish Roland Knox a speedy recovery and look forward to spending many more years here at MGRMC upon his return,” the release stated.
