SAFFORD – On Jan. 6, Dorothy Stinson Elementary School hosted its annual spelling bee, where young spellers showcased impressive skill and sportsmanship throughout nine intensely competitive rounds.

The atmosphere was filled with encouragement as participants exchanged smiles and fist bumps, cheering on their fellow competitors. In the end, fifth grader Macauley Tippey emerged victorious by correctly spelling the winning word “ramshackle.”

Runner-up honors went to fellow fifth grader Laine Cluff, who put up a strong challenge.

Macauley Tippey will now advance to represent Dorothy Stinson Elementary at the Graham County Spelling Bee on Feb. 4.

Congratulations to all the participants, and good luck!
