SAFFORD – Did you know planting native plants in the fall is the best time for them to succeed in your yard or garden? The Gila Native Plants Nursery at Gila Watershed Partnership on the Discovery Park Campus is having the last week of their Fall Plant Sale Fundraiser right now, and you don’t want to miss it!
Feel free to browse the selection online at their website, and order for pickup on Friday. Or come to the sale on Friday, Nov. 1, for great deals on some of the prettiest native plants available in the region. Friday is also the annual Creepy Critters event, which provides a fun and educational day for the whole family.
There will be live animals for participants young and old to look at and, if they are careful, to handle. You’ll learn about the creepy critters important to our ecosystem, even when you might find them scary. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. There will be candy, games, and discounts for their parents or grandparents. Bring your children in costume to get 5% off everything in the sale.
Remember that the sale special this year is the 5-gallon pomegranate. These trees are already three years old, so they are likely to begin fruiting next spring.
The sale is open online all week or in person on Friday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They hope to see you there!
