GREENLEE COUNTY – Since 2024, Greenlee County has been committed to improving our fairgrounds one project at a time. Several upgrades that have already been completed include the rodeo arena, kitchen, and food service areas underneath the grandstands, public restrooms, the livestock barn, and the dance floor. While these improvements show significant progress, the county’s vision for the fairgrounds is still looking forward.
Greenlee County’s goal is to make the fairgrounds a welcoming and safe sanctuary where families, friends, tourists, visitors, and long-time residents can gather, relax, and enjoy a good time. Achieving this required the county to gain a clear understanding of the community it serves’s wants, needs, and values. By listening and planning thoughtfully, the county is ensuring that improvements benefit the entire community.
With that in mind, Greenlee County is pleased to announce additional upcoming improvements to the county fairgrounds. These improvements include two softball/baseball fields, one multi-purpose field, and a well-developed playground with a splash pad. Clearly defined walkways and shaded areas will be incorporated to accommodate spectators and families, offering designated spaces for rest and enjoyment within this portion of the fairgrounds park. These upgrades will come in stages and will eventually include lighting the ballfields and surrounding areas to ensure convenience and flexibility with seasonal schedules. The fairgrounds are truly one of Greenlee County’s greatest gems, providing an ideal space for youth sports leagues, family events, and community gatherings.
The county’s efforts do not end here. Once the playground and ballfields are completed, Greenlee County looks forward to adding more amenities, including a sand volleyball court, basketball court, and a pickleball court. Thanks to the Board of Supervisors’ involvement and support, we are able to pursue ambitious ideas and turn them into reality. The commitment and dedication shown by the Board of Supervisors, the public works department, and planners make these improvements possible, and for that, we are sincerely grateful.
