SAFFORD – Christmas may still be a few months away, but the Safford Police Department
is already preparing to bring holiday joy to children and families throughout the Gila Valley
through its annual Angel Tree Program.
Recognizing the growing need for holiday assistance within the community and the significant
coordination required to fulfill Christmas wishes, the department is launching this year’s program
earlier than usual. The additional time will allow for family nominations, gift coordination, and
community participation to help make the holiday season brighter for local children.
Family nominations are now open through November 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Community
members are encouraged to nominate families who may be experiencing financial hardship and
could use assistance providing Christmas gifts for their children.
Nomination eligibility and guidelines include:
• Families must reside within the Gila Valley.
• Children from birth through age 18 are eligible. If 18, must be attending high school.
• Requested gifts should have a retail value of no more than $50 per child.
• All required information must be provided on the nomination form. Incomplete
nominations will not be considered for fulfillment.

Following the nomination period, the department will invite community members, businesses,
and organizations to help fulfill Angel Tree wishes.
The Angel Tree Program reflects the generosity and compassion of the Gila Valley community.
Through the continued support of local residents, businesses, and volunteers, the Safford Police
Department hopes to bring comfort, joy, and a little Christmas magic to children who might
otherwise go without gifts this holiday season. The Safford Police Department encourages
community members to share nomination information and watch for upcoming announcements
regarding gift sponsorships and volunteer opportunities.
Together, we can make this Christmas a little brighter for families throughout the Gila Valley
