SAN CARLOS — Authorities are appealing to the public for information following the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in San Carlos over the weekend.
According to the San Carlos Apache Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, to a report of a shooting at a residence located on Aravaipa Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers located Jonathon Gates Jr., 22, suffering from mortal gunshot wounds.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division has launched a full homicide investigation into the incident and is actively working to identify suspects and determine a motive behind the shooting.
Detectives are urging anyone who was in the area of Aravaipa Avenue on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 22, and witnessed suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals related to the crime to come forward.
