SAFFORD — Natalia Felipa Alva, 20, was arrested following a joint investigation by the Safford Police Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) after authorities executed a search warrant at a residence on W. 16th Street on May 14. Alva faces a series of felony charges, including sexual abuse, sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault, molestation of a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to a Safford Police Department report, Alva was detained at the scene during the execution of the search warrant, which initially targeted the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). During subsequent interviews at the Safford Police Department, Alva admitted to a nearly three-year sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl that began when the minor was 13 years old, and Alva was 17.

Detectives reported that Alva had been living in the minor’s family home for approximately one year at the time of the arrest. Alva told investigators the relationship started as a close friendship in 2023 and evolved into repeated sexual contact, including mutual masturbation, digital penetration, oral sex, and the use of objects for penetration. She described multiple incidents occurring at different locations, including her former residence and the minor’s home, often when the minor’s mother was not present.

Alva reportedly admitted that some acts were non-consensual or involved her being “too rough,” including incidents where the minor attempted to push her away or verbally objected. In one described incident, Alva allegedly continued penetration with an object despite resistance, holding the minor down. She also described periods of heightened frequency of sexual activity, sometimes describing her own impulses as uncontrollable. Alva told detectives she felt guilty about the age difference but continued the relationship.

Investigators documented admissions of Alva taking explicit photographs and at least one video of the minor, including images and footage involving a sex aid device. Alva reportedly uploaded some of this material to an X (formerly Twitter) account under the handle “Sellingangels,” which she said was created to share such content. She also described assisting the minor with posing for and posting explicit images online. A cell phone believed to contain relevant evidence was taken into HSI custody.

Alva was transported to the Safford Police Department for questioning after being located at the residence. Detectives reported she was read her Miranda rights and waived them, providing a detailed statement over several hours. She was described as cooperative during the interview.

The investigation began after HSI agents targeted CSAM distribution, leading to the identification of the Safford residence. The 15-year-old minor was also interviewed and arrested by HSI on related charges after she admitted to distributing CSAM and engaging in sexual conduct with her younger siblings. The 15-year-old juvenile has been adjudicated through the Juvenile Court and is now listed as a victim in the case against Alva.

Alva reportedly discussed her own history of trauma, mental health issues, including paranoid schizophrenia, and exposure to pornography and grooming at a young age. She told detectives these factors contributed to her behavior, but maintained that many acts were consensual within the relationship.

As of the latest available information, Alva remains in custody pending further court proceedings. The case remains active, with additional analysis of digital evidence ongoing.
