THATCHER— Eastern Arizona College’s Music Department will present its annual Masterworks Concert featuring Te Deum on Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
This year’s concert will showcase Anton Bruckner’s powerful Te Deum, a cornerstone of choral-orchestral repertoire known for its sweeping sound, emotional intensity, and uplifting message. The work brings together vocalists and instrumentalists in a dynamic performance that highlights the depth and talent of EA’s music program.
Performed by EA’s choirs and musicians, the Masterworks Concert is a signature annual event, offering audiences the opportunity to experience large-scale classical works in a live setting.
“Bruckner’s Te Deum is a powerful piece that pulls the listener along a bombastic and emotional musical journey,” said Dr. Gideon Burrows, EA Director of Fine Arts and lead choral music director. “It gives our students the opportunity to experience a large-scale work while developing the precision and artistry that this kind of work demands.”
With its grand scale and inspiring themes, Te Deum promises a powerful and moving experience that fills the auditorium with sound and energy, making it a must-see event for the campus and community.
“This is the kind of performance that will stays with you,” Burrows said. “It’s exciting for our students, and it’s something really special that we look forward to sharing with a live audience.”
The performance will additionally feature solo performances by the A Cappella Choir, the Symphonic Choir, and EA’s new associate professor of keyboard studies, Dr. Gréta Pásztor. The concert will take place in the Fine Arts Auditorium on EA’s Thatcher campus. Seating is limited, and early arrival is recommended.
