THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College will honor veterans and active-duty service members during its annual Veterans Day Commemoration on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11 a.m., on the middle campus between the clock tower and flagpole.
The event, sponsored by the Associated Students of Eastern Arizona College (ASEAC), will feature keynote speaker Congressman Juan Ciscomani. The ceremony will also include performances by the EAC Marching Band and EAC Choirs, adding a patriotic musical tribute to the morning’s program.
Ciscomani, who represents Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, was born in Mexico and raised in Tucson. The son of immigrant parents, he became the first in his family to graduate from college and has dedicated his career to public service. Before his election to Congress, Ciscomani served as a senior advisor to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey for Southern Arizona and international affairs, focusing on economic development and cross-border relations. In Congress, he serves on the House Appropriations Committee and is recognized for his advocacy of education, veterans, and border security.
Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony, and community members are warmly invited to attend.
Veterans Day began as Armistice Day in 1919, marking the end of World War I and honoring those who served in that conflict. In 1954, the observance was expanded to include all U.S. veterans, becoming the national holiday known today as Veterans Day. Each year, Americans pause on November 11 to reflect on the sacrifices made in defense of freedom and to thank those who have worn the nation’s uniform.
