Roughriders welcome Cowgirls on Tuesday

MORENCI – The Morenci Wildcats (0-2 seeding) host the Miami Vandals (0-1) on Monday, Sept. 8, and the San Carlos Braves (1-0) on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The Wildcats and the Vandals have played a common opponent, the Eagar Round Valley Elks, with both falling in three sets. Morenci and San Carlos have yet to meet.
MIAMI Vandals
Miami has played a lone seeding match to date, falling to Round Valley 0-3 (5-25, 8-25, 3-25) on Sept. 4.
The Stella Lopez-coached Vandals have a 16-member roster of five seniors, four juniors, five sophomores, and two freshmen. The seniors are Charisma Madrid, Alexis Moody, Daisy Pacheco, Kaylynn Porto, and Jaylynn Zamora; juniors Elise Combs, Grace Cruz, Mirna Flores, and Tamia Pietila; sophomores Addisyn Davis, Brylee Dho, Liliana Light, Mercedes Mata, and Tessa Roberts; and freshmen Danica Valenzuela and Anna Zazueta.
Miami is competing in the 9-member 2A East Region with the Gilbert Classical Spartans, the Gilbert San Tan Charter Roadrunners, the Chandler Lincoln Prep Lightning, the Gilbert Arete Prep Chargers, the Gilbert Leading Edge Spartans, the Chandler Prep Titans, the Pima Roughriders, and the San Carlos Braves.
MORENCI Wildcats

Morenci opened the 2025 season in Wildcat Memorial Gymnasium against the Eagar Round Valley Elks, falling in three sets (19-25, 23-25, 13-25) and followed it with a 4-set loss in Pima.
The Jasmine Aguinaga-coached Wildcats have a 10-member roster with seniors Madilynn Clark (4), Keirah Fernandez (11), and Rozlyn Funari (10); juniors Leayla Mendez-Garcia (7) and Kaylee Wiggins (6); sophomores Ava Basteen (1), Jayliana Guzzo (1), and Taytum Porter (8); and freshmen Kendall Merrill (3) and Justine Tartaglia (5).
Morenci is competing in the 9-member 2A South Region with the Benson Bobcats, the Tucson Saint Augustine Catholic Wolves, the Tombstone Yellow Jackets, the Bisbee Pumas, the Tucson Santa Rita Eagles, the Tucson San Miguel Catholic Vipers, the Willcox Cowgirls, and the Tucson Desert Christian Eagles.
SAN CARLOS Braves
San Carlos has played a lone seeding match to date, topping the neighboring Fort Thomas Apaches 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 20-25, 25-21) on Sept. 3.
The Donna Antonio-coached Braves have a 14-member roster of nine seniors and five juniors. The seniors are Carla Black (17), Aereyawna Bullis (4), Kandi Day (6), Kaylee Dona (1), Drianna Dosela (14), Trinity Elgo (3), Danijah Goode (16), Pearl Janis (21), and Kylee Juan (20); and juniors Malia Antonio (11), Jessica Brown (5), Enila Dosela (15), Alyssa Phillips (8), and Antonette Phillips (13).
