GRAHAM COUNTY – One person, a 52-year-old man of Duncan, was located deceased at the scene of an early morning rollover off Highway 70 between Safford and Duncan on Thursday. A second occupant, an adult woman, was transported to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for medical treatment via ground ambulance.

According to Graham County Dispatch notes, one of the first on the scene was a paramedic who located the male deceased in the vehicle. The injured man was removed from the vehicle, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed, but it was not effective. The man also reportedly had a head injury.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was dispatched at about 7:22 a.m. to the area of milepost 356 regarding a single-vehicle crash. The area is about halfway between Safford and Duncan. According to the DPS, a Dodge Caliber was westbound on U.S. Highway 70 when the vehicle went left and rolled. The car was found roughly 50 yards from the highway.

Deputies from the Graham County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, which wasn’t cleared until the early afternoon. Highway traffic was mainly unimpeded except for a short stint in which the highway was closed briefly.

The investigation is being done by the AZDPS.
