Safford Police searching for Chase Bank robbery suspect

UPDATE: The suspect has been apprehended.

SAFFORD – On July 10, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the Safford Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Chase Bank. According to the reporting party, an unidentified male suspect entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money and indicated he was armed. No weapon was displayed during the incident.

The suspect fled the scene with reportedly about $10,000 from the bank and remains at large. Law enforcement is actively working to identify the suspect.

Safford Police are receiving assistance from local authorities and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The department urges anyone with information to come forward to help in identifying and locating the suspect.

The suspect is believed to have fled in a maroon van. Anyone with information is asked to call the Safford Police Department at 928-432-4100 or the Graham County Sheriff’s Office at 928-428-3141. 

UPDATE: The San Carlos Apache Police Department announced the arrest of two non-Native American suspects in the robbery at about 5:15 p.m. The suspects were arrested on the west side of the reservation without incident by a multi-jurisdictional arrest team led by SCPD, which included the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The investigation remains ongoing.
