PIMA – The Pima Town Council has had a fever, and the prescription moving forward includes pharmacist Brian Paull as mayor.
Paull was unanimously selected by the newly seated Pima Town Council at a special meeting Tuesday night to canvass its General Election. In Pima, like Thatcher, the mayor is nominated and voted on by council members. Vice-Mayor Sherrill Teeter was unanimously selected to retain her position.
Mayor Paull said he plans on continuing to press for infrastructure improvements as his agenda.
“We’re putting a lot of emphasis on infrastructure and roadwork and I think we’ve got a good start on that,” Paull said. “That’s kind of why I joined the council in the first place . . . The growth is happening in Pima and it won’t stop – from what I can see – anytime soon. With the new high school and new neighborhoods going up everywhere we just need to stay on the infrastructure and see if we can get everything stable and sustainable for a long time.”
Brian Paull is a compounding pharmacist who owns and operates Palo Verde Health Services located at 18 W. Center St. with his wife, Angela Paull, who is a family nurse practitioner.
Brian was initially appointed to the council in March to fill a spot left vacant by the resignation of Deborah Barr. He was then elected to the council in the Primary Election in August.
New council member seated
Along with the selection of a new town mayor, the council also seated its newest member, Teresa Bailey, who was also elected in the Primary Election.
After the council canvassed the town’s portion of the election and accepted the results, Bailey and Paull were sworn onto the council.
Bailey said she was eager to get to work and plans on going through the Town Code and ordinances to see what she can make better.
“I hope that I can serve the community to the best of my ability,” Bailey said. “I’m really excited to lend whatever expertise I may have to the council.”
Bailey also remarked on the need to have an accurate vision regarding growth.
“I know we’re growing rapidly, and I want to make sure that we have the vision to grow with the town as it’s growing and move in the right direction.”
