Safford Police investigating fire at Ace Hardware

SAFFORD – The Safford Police Department is investigating a fire that burned in the lumber yard of Safford Builders Supply/Ace Hardware late Thursday night. 

According to a press release, authorities and firefighters were dispatched at about 10 p.m. to the business at 707 S. 6th Ave. regarding a fire. 

Upon arrival, the lumber area outside the main business was found to be engulfed in flames. 

The volunteer Safford Fire Department contained the fire to the lumber yard and extinguished the flames. 

As of early Friday morning, the cause of the fire was unknown, and it is under investigation by the Safford Police Department.
