Obituary for Glenn Ray ‘Slick’ Willey

Glenn Ray “Slick” Willey passed away at home in Willcox on Dec. 17, 2020, at the age of 83. He was born in McCulloch County,(Brady) Texas on Jan. 16, 1937, to Rice Willey and Lucille Strickland Willey.

Slick was a retired farmer in Winchester Estates. He married Ruth Robertson and they had four children. In 1986 he married Carol and they returned to Willcox a few years ago. Carol returned to her family in Texas this year.

Slick was preceded in death by his twin sister, Glenna Faye; his mom, Lucille Willey Phillips; his biological dad, Rice Willey, and his loving stepfather, Hollis Phillips, who also farmed in the Bonita Valley from 1974 to 1977.

He was responsible for his youngest sister and brother in law, Terry and Kittie Preas, moving to Willcox to work as farm labor for him in 1973. Terry preceded him in death in 2003.

Slick is survived by his children, Pam (David) Noland, and Jeff (Isabel) Willey, both of Willcox, and Greg (Bonnie) Willey, of Sugarland, Texas. His surviving grandchildren are Glenn Brown, Jessica Noland, Jeffery Willey, Gregory Willey, Christopher Willey, Kendrick Willey, Austin Willey, and Nicole Willey, and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Jeff Willey, of Littlefield Texas, R.C. Willey, from Blanket Texas, Karen Dutton Campbell, of Euless Texas, Carmen Melting Bedford, of Texas, Wanda Lancaster, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kittie Preas Koukalik, of Bonita.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Glenna; his parents, and his sister, Nelda Blair. Memorial Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at the First Southern Baptist Church.
