SAFFORD – A Graham County Adult Detention Facility employee was harassed while on her way to work.
The detention officer called authorities at about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, to respond to the Speedway gas station at 750 S. 8th Ave.
Upon arrival, the detention officer told a Safford officer that a white, older model Nissan sedan had attempted to run her off the road as she left her residence on her way to work at the jail.
While stopped at an intersection, a Hispanic male with a flower tattooed on his neck got out of the Nissan, yelled “(expletive deleted) you and your family” at the guard and then spat on her. The detention officer advised that there was another Hispanic male in the Nissan as well and that both of them appeared to be in the mid-20s.
The detention officer said she did not recognize the men and that after the incident she drove to the gas station so that she would be in a public place where any further actions taken by the men would be witnessed.
After speaking with the detention officer, the Safford officer issued an attempt to locate the Nissan sedan and searched the area but the vehicle was not found.
